Sheri Murray, AMFT, APCC
My name is Sheri Murray, and I am an associate therapist currently working on obtaining licensure as an LMFT. I graduated from California Baptist University with a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology. Ultimately, I wound up in this field because I thrive on building connections with people. I pride myself on my unique ability to empathize and feel with people in the moment. Empathy is paramount in providing adequate therapeutic services to the public.
I would consider myself an artistic and somewhat eclectic person who enjoys spending free time cooking, relaxing on the beach, doing arts and crafts, listening to music, skating, and camping. Early in my career, I worked in a locked facility with individuals experiencing more severe and persistent mental illnesses and discovered that I wanted to work more broadly in the field of mental health.
Passionately driven, I encourage my clients to get acquainted with themselves and discover their interests, hobbies, and likes, as I feel this is important and key to progressing in treatment. My experience includes working with individuals dealing with addiction, trauma, and children, mainly those with ADHD or behavioral issues. I enjoy witnessing my clients' progress and believe in treating the whole person. This includes addressing employment issues, legal concerns, unmet goals, relationship challenges, safety plans, benefit and resource connections, communication issues, and more. When working with children, I also meet with parents to discuss progress and address any concerns regarding the child's safety.
Most often, I work with adults experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety symptoms, and personality disorders. My motto is to meet clients where they are. I recognize that if it took time to create damage, it may take time to undo it.
Cultivating a safe, non-judgmental environment while ensuring clients maintain autonomy is significant to me. I am here to support and encourage clients to recognize the power they have within to heal and experience life healthily on their own terms. By focusing on the development of coping skills to alleviate symptoms, my clients and I work together to discover what works best as we embark on this therapeutic journey.
