Zahra Shokoohi, AMFT, APCC
Hello, I’m Zahra, a dedicated and passionate Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC). My mission is to provide individuals, couples, and families with a safe and nonjudgmental space to explore emotions, strengthen relationships, and achieve personal growth. I am also fluent in Farsi and am happy to provide therapy in both English and Farsi to best support my clients' needs.
Education and Certifications: I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy, both from Colorado Christian University. I have completed certifications in Play Therapy and Trauma, as well as Attachment-Based Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Additionally, I hold a certification in Trauma from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), further enhancing my ability to support clients in processing and healing from traumatic experiences. These certifications equip me to help individuals, couples, and families address attachment wounds, emotional connection, and inner system dynamics. I have also completed Level 1 and Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which provides me with evidence-based tools to help couples improve communication, deepen connection, and resolve conflicts effectively.
Therapeutic Approach: My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and culturally sensitive. I believe in fostering trust, respect, and a strong therapeutic alliance to create a warm and empathetic environment where clients feel heard, validated, and supported. I tailor interventions to each client’s unique needs, integrating evidence-based practices such as EFT, IFS, and the Gottman Method while honoring their cultural backgrounds and values.
